Our Team

Colin Parker

Principal | GAAP Consulting

Colin, Principal of GAAP Consulting, is an expert in financial reporting, auditing and related governance issues, and was previously a member of the Australian Accounting Standards Board.

He has conducted many independent expert and consulting experts reports on professional negligence, and accounting and auditing standards. He is the team leader advisory and litigation services and adviser to GAAP Training and Reportfraud.

Carmen Ridley

Principal | Australian Financial Reporting Solutions

Carmen has an excellent knowledge of financial reporting through significant experience with a number of major accounting firms in both the external audit and technical divisions and spending significant time analysing and interpreting accounting standards for clients.

Carmen is a former Board member of the AASB (2012 – 2020) and a former member of the IFRS for SME implementation committee (2020 – 2023).

Chanelle Pienaar

Principal | Audit Assist

Chanelle is an accomplished Chartered Accountant with more than 20 years’ experience as an auditor in a wide variety of Financial Audit and Audit Quality Control projects. Chanelle has abroad range of experience covering Financial Statement Audits, Audit Quality Control Reviews, Trust Account Audits and AASB implementation Advice & Assistance.

Chanelle has strong technical knowledge and enthusiastic training style ensures that all participants, from the graduate to the partner, receive maximum value from each training session.

Jessica-Anne Saayman

Director | QA Assist

Jessica is a result driven, energetic Independent Consultant and Specialist in Assurance Consulting Services with more than 26 years’ proven experience in technical, ethics, quality and peer reviews, accounting, listed and unlisted, multinational corporation, public sector audits, including advisory opportunities such as merger and acquisitions and forensics.

Her industry exposure includes healthcare, steel, property, manufacturing, distribution, consumer business, short term insurance, Not-For-Profit and government/public sector; with cumulative experience at partner level (mid-tier and big 4) in external audit for more than a decade.

 

Andrew Parker

Director | GAAP Training

Andrew works with the GAAP Consulting team and like-minded people to deliver relevant and quality training to accountants, auditors, and governance. Andrew has had several years of experience working in both the not-for-profit industry and the private sector.

Shelley Banton

Head of Technical │ ASF Audits

Shelley is an experienced Director with a demonstrated history of working in the superannuation industry. Skilled in Systems Development, Business Planning, Self Managed Superannuation Funds (SMSF), People and Business Development, Governance, Compliance and Risk.

Stephen Newman

Executive Counsel | Hope Earle

Stephen is a corporate and commercial lawyer who also has considerable litigation experience in all major Courts and Tribunals.

Stephen advises a range of clients and in particular, Accountants and Auditors on issues that relate to corporate and trust entities, businesses and private clients operating in many different industries, both domestic and international. Stephen also has considerable experience in dealing with regulators and conducting the defence of investigative and enforcement action.

Jo-Anne Hotston

Principal | Tax Boutique

Jo-anne is the principal of Tax Boutique. A small firm dedicated to in house tax training for a select number of accounting firms.

Jo-anne has been providing tax training to accounting and legal firms for over 25 years from first tier firms down to smaller firms. She has also been a regular presenter for all the major accounting bodies, CAANZ, CPA, TTI and IPA.

Having sold her previous tax training business a few years ago, Jo-anne is now providing direct tax training to a small select number of firms.

Inbal Rodnay

CEO | Theory and Motion

Inbal Rodnay is co-host of Agents of Change, a monthly workshop exploring technology in accounting. She is also CEO of Theory and Motion, a consultancy that helps accounting teams turn technology into capacity.

Inbal was previously Head of Technology and Innovation at Melbourne firm BlueRock.

She was a finalist for Innovator of the Year in Women in Finance awards, 2022.

Dean Newlan

Senior Consultant | McGrathNicol

Dean is a forensic specialist with more than 30 years of investigative and consulting experience. He is a former Partner of McGrathNicol and was appointed a consultant to the national forensic practice following his retirement from the partnership.

His forensic consulting experience includes investigations into major corporate collapses, workplace fraud and misconduct in business, quantification of loss in commercial disputes, complex funds tracing and fraud and misconduct control.   A particular focus in recent years has been the provision of assistance to the police in various states in the investigation and prosecution of workplace fraud.
